Even if you’re new to live streaming, that doesn’t mean you need to embrace the usual haphazard performance-style you’ve seen from most other streamers.
You can show that you value your audience’s time by preparing properly.
Yeah, preparing, yawn, boring! Take it from me, I’ve turned up to a lot of presentations (and live music performances) with very little preparation. When it still goes well, you feel like a genius. But when it doesn’t, well, it’s much harder to get invited back.
When you’re starting out, maybe you think that your audience is so small, it’s not worth spending too much time on your streams. But that traps you in a holding pattern. Why would anybody stay for something that isn’t worth watching? How would your audience ever grow?
So you should be prepared, even if (like me) you’re only talking to a handful of people.
Thankfully, CueCam makes this really easy!
What are we producing?
We’re going to run a stream that looks something like this.
Each segment will be one or more cards in CueCam.
What will we need
- An intro graphic
- Intro music loops
- Title video
Everything else we’ll create inside CueCam.
Countdown
We start with a countdown.
CueCam lets you add a countdown to any doc via the Doc tab.
Opener
The opener has words for your teleprompter and looping background music. Edit your cards and drag in the music where you want it to start.
Find the music on the card to toggle loop. The music will continue to loop until told to stop, so remember that!
Title Video
Next we can play a video by dragging it into a card.
Add a Stop Music action to the video card.
Give it a nice short fade time.
Show Intro
Add some cards describing the show, add another background music loop.
Updates
Some weekly or daily updates can be nice for regular viewers. It’s also a good chance to fade out the music.
Add cards with tags for any text you want to show, and as many words as you don’t want to have to learn!
Feature Presentation
Put your main content in a separate script and use CueCam’s “Jump To Doc” feature to start it at the right moment. Here’s a second script with some pics.
Save the script and then copy a deep link to the first card.
In your main doc, add a Jump To Doc at the point you want to switch.
Paste in the link. You know it works if it shows the other script’s name. ”Pengins” (sic).
When you finish presenting this doc, it will jump to the next card in your main doc.
Calls To Action
Finally, you can put up your calls to action. The good thing about this process is you can Duplicate your main doc for the next episode, so you’ll never forget to say “like and subscribe”.
